If your company is registered with HRD Corp, you pay a monthly levy for your employees. That levy builds up as funding you can use for approved training. Many employers leave part of it unused, simply because planning and paperwork get pushed aside.

Here is the simple checklist we use with our clients.

1. Start with a training plan, not a course catalogue

List your business goals for the year, then the skills needed to reach them. A short training needs analysis turns that into a plan by team and quarter. It also helps you spend your levy on what matters, instead of whatever course is available next month.

2. Check your levy balance early

Log in to your HRD Corp employer account and check your available balance. Knowing the number early lets you plan the year and avoid a rush at the end.

3. Work with a registered training provider

Claimable training must follow HRD Corp's rules, including the provider's registration and the scheme you apply under. Ask your provider which entity is registered and will invoice you. At The Ten X Group, HRD Corp claimable programmes are contracted and invoiced by 10 X Enterprise (003013496-V), our registered training provider.

4. Get the grant approved before training starts

Apply for the training grant through HRD Corp's system before the programme begins, and wait for approval. Training that starts before approval can put the claim at risk.

5. Keep clean records and claim on time

After the training, submit your claim with the supporting documents, such as attendance records and the invoice, within the deadline HRD Corp sets. Good providers prepare these documents with you.

Rules and schemes are updated from time to time. Always check the latest guidelines on HRD Corp's official website before you apply.

Bonus: prove the value

A claim shows the training happened. It doesn't show it worked. Ask for evaluation at four levels: reaction, learning, behaviour and results. That's the evidence your management will want when you plan next year's budget.

We handle the whole cycle, from needs analysis to the claim. See how we deliver training.
